How to raise cashless donations at your Macmillan Coffee Morning 2021

Author: Harry Pearce

How to set up your Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraising page

Whatever your reason to host, your support has the power to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.

Did you know that there are more ways than ever for you to collect donations this year?

If you’ve signed up for a Macmillan Coffee Morning, you’ll have received a fundraising pack with a money box and also QR code stickers.

These QR code stickers link to your online fundraising page so that guests can make a cashless donation using their smartphone.

You can create your fundraising page when you sign up for a coffee morning on the Macmillan website. Here’s just how quick and easy it is to set one up.

Fundraise in 3..2..1

1. Sign up to host a coffee morning

Visit the Macmillan Cancer Support website and sign up to host an event. This year you can host in-person, online, or both.

2. Customise your fundraising page

Once you’ve signed up you will be sent an email with the next steps. It is recommended that you personalise your fundraising page, as we know that people are more likely to support you if they understand how their donation will help.

Share more personal details on your page such as your name, profile picture, event description, and fundraising target.

You can still collect donations and view your totaliser via your page, even if you choose not to personalise it.

3. Share your fundraising page link

When your page is created you will be given your personal Coffee Morning fundraising page link. It’s mobile-friendly which means people can donate quickly and with ease.

Share the link online to reach more people, like social media and on Whatsapp.

Collect cashless donations with QR code stickers

See a space? Put a QR code in place

When your physical fundraising pack arrives you’ll notice a sheet with QR code stickers. These QR codes link straight to your fundraising page.

You’ll notice empty spaces on the rest of your fundraising kit for your QR code stickers to be placed. Find a space on your money box, game, and poster.

There will be a few QR code stickers left for you to place anywhere you find useful. You could put one on your t-shirt or coffee mug.

Share the QR code instructions with guests

On the sheet with your QR code stickers, you’ll notice simple instructions. Leave this out for guests to read if they’re not sure how to donate without cash.

Try the QR code yourself

If you already have your fundraising pack, try it for yourself. Open your smartphone camera, hover over the QR code, and tap the popup link. Viewing your page at an instant feels exciting, doesn’t it?

Alternatively, you can practice with this code, or click the link to view Alice’s Coffee Morning page.

Smartphone donations are quick and easy

Supporters can use their smartphone to make a secure donation via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Card.

Once the donation is made, supporters who are eligible can add Gift Aid at no extra cost. This makes the donation go 25% further.

You can view your totaliser at any time on your fundraising page. See how close you are to reaching your target for a bit of fun!
